What is a Central Securities Depository(CSD) Account?
The Central Securities Depository(CSD) Account is an account where investors’ securities are stored electronically. This eliminates the use of certificates in trading on the Ghana Stock Exchange.
How does one set-up a CSD account?
  • Download a CSD account opening form here
  • Submit the completed forms via email to [email protected] or visit our head office or any Stanbic Bank branch with the requirements below.

Requirements

Individuals

  • Passport-sized photographs (Account holders / Beneficiaries)
  • Proof of Identity (valid identity document) - Ghana Card/Passport
  • Proof of Identity of Account Beneficiary
  • Proof of physical address
  • Authority to act - Signatories
  • Email Indemnity (for clients with email address)
  • Proof of Foreign Address (for Non-Resident clients)
  • Resident / Work Permit (for Non-Ghanaians)
  • Unabridged birth certificate for minors (under 18 years)

Corporates/Institution

  • Authority to act - Signatories
  • Copy of Certificate of Incorporation and Certificate to Commence Business
  • Board resolution to open account and nomination of signatories
  • Copy of Memorandum and Articles of Association (Forms A, 3, 17)
  • TIN / Ghana Card No.
  • Partnership Deed (where applicable)
  • Constitution if unregistered association
  • Act / Gazette for Government Agency (where applicable)
  • One passport-sized photograph of each signatory
  • Resident / Work Permit (for Non-Ghanaians)
  • Evidence of registration with other Government Agencies
  • Power of Attorney (where applicable)
  • Letter of Indemnity
  • Proof of Company Address
  • Proof of Identity of all signatories and representatives

How do I place an order?
Complete the purchase / sale order form (Securities Deposit Form) here and submit via email to [email protected]
What is the minimum amount required to invest in the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE)
There is no minimum investment requirement. However, the minimum number of shares that can be sold or purchased is 100.
How long does it take for a trade to settle?
The settlement cycle takes three(3) working days (Trade date + 3 working days)
How do I move shares from one broker to another?
Download and complete a CSD form 5 here and submit via email to [email protected]. Indicate where the shares are being transferred from, and where you would like them to be transferred to. Ensure forms are signed by you and the delivering broker.
I live outside Ghana, how can I trade?
You can trade wherever you are. Complete an account opening form here and submit via email to [email protected]. We will trade on your behalf per the instructions given.
How can I sell my shares in certificate form?

To sell your shares in certificate form you must:

  • Fill out a CSD form 2 (download form here) and submit it with the certificate to us for forwarding to the Registrar and CSD for crediting to your CSD account

Certificates need to be dematerialized into a CSD account in order to be able to trade the shares.

How do I withdraw from my CSD account?
You would need to place an order to sell with a payment instruction stated and send via email to [email protected]
